‘Apocalyptic Promenade’ was produced by Matt Hepworth and Sonic Prophecy members Shane Provstgaard and Darrin Goodman, at Studio Nu, and mastered at Mastermind Productions by Trevor Sadler (Rush, Nine Inch Nails, Triumph).
The cover art was designed by renowned artist Aldo Requena ‘Valgorth’ of Hammerblaze Studios, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Sonic Prophecy was officially formed in 2008, and their debut album, ‘A Divine Act of War’, was released in 2011. The band has done some regional touring through California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado and Idaho that included headlining Power Metal festivals in Denver and Las Vegas.  Sonic Prophecy has shared the stage with Alestorm, Sabaton, Tyr, Ratt, and Cinderella, and performed on the Norwegian Invasion 2014 US Tour.  The band will be touring in 2015 in support of their new album, details tba.

Ronald McDonald House Charities Fundraiser at LG BREWSKI’s in Union, Oregon

Monthly jam night at LG BREWSKI’S  in Union Oregon has always been special event for local patrons, musicians and the small community.  But this March 27^th 2015, there will be a slightly different approach to the evening.   As musicians gather to take turns and support one another in a variety of musical styles and skill levels, donations will be collected for the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

The fund raising event formulated by LG BREWSKI’S staff member Tony Davis, will include two artists Jimmy Bivens and Steven Hines.   Bivens and Hines are established performers who live locally and have toured the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Jimmy Bivens:

Tony has had a long history of volunteer work, fundraising and community involvement.  He now serves as a volunteer with the Union Fire and EMS Department and has previous experience fundraising for other non-profits.    Due to his personal association with Ronald McDonald House Charities, Tony chose this foundation as the beneficiary of the evenings fundraising focus.

Ronald McDonald House Charities supports families with a variety of services.  The most notable is providing housing for families when their child is in need of hospitalization. The Ronald Mc Donald House Charities website is quoted, “RMHC may not be able to make the medicine taste better or erase the pain of a much-needed treatment, we can help lessen the burden for nearly nine million families each and every year. Since 1974, our network of local Chapter have been making children happier and healthier by keeping families together – giving them a place to rest and refresh. A place that feels like home.”

By the end of 2014, RMHC will have 300 local Chapters in 62 countries and regions with: 346 Ronald McDonald Houses,  188 Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, 50 Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles, Grants to non-profit organizations that also focus on the needs of children Scholarships to students across the United States and Chapters around the world creating country-specific programs.

“I of Everything” by IMPLODE CD Review

Eddie and I have been writing reviews together for a few months with some developing skill. This past week, I had chose to forgo reviews due to a hectic schedule. But to my avail, two days ago I recieved a message from my review partner, “I really like the new release ‘I of Everything’ by IMPLODE”. I ignored his comment and went on my way until, this morning I am awoken with another message from Eddie, “I really like this album, this is five stars.”Since Eddie is never really assertive about any thing, except when playing bass, I decided to follow a few links and see that Eddie had to say.

The Swedish metal act IMPLODE will release “I of Everything” on April 24th 2015. The Thrash Death Metal act is an artist with some established accolades, The band toured all over Europe in 2014 with Entombed AD, Grave, Rotting Christ, Twilight of The Gods, Negura Bunget and headlined a tour in Holland this December 2014.

“I of Everything” contains 13 songs that are divided into four chapters plus the single “Stress Communion” (released in September 2014, before the first EP).

“I of Everything” is IMPLODE’s second studio album and is quoted by the artist as being, “something completely different. Musically the IMPLODE is still all about their furious hard and technical metal as we know them.” This stands true per Eddie’s review as well.

Eddie goes on to say, “I really like this record. It’s aggressive and modern. I can’t place why it sounds familiar but I dig it.” Track 1 Tithonus sets the tone for the record and is aggressive from the first riff. Two other stand out songs of the album are Track 3 the transcend track and 8 Grail of Rust
Here is a bit more about the band and their development to the April 24th, 2015 release, “I of Everything” kicked-off the first release on 9th of September with the single and video “Stress Communion” which directly hit #2 on iTunes Charts in Sweden and #37 on the official Swedish DigiListan (the most popular songs streamed and sold in Sweden).

In October, IMPLODE started a long tour together with death metal legends Entombed AD and Grave, 21 shows in 16 countries all over Europe. In November the first chapter “Aeon Clockwork” was released and entered iTunes Chart at #1.

In December IMPLODE did a headline tour in Netherlands. In the end of January the second chapter “Terra Pericolosa” was released and entered directly to iTunes chart #1. Chapter III “A Syndicate” will be released 24th of March followed by the last chapter IV “I Tension” on 21st of April.
“I of Everything” will be released on CD and digital all over the world on the 24th of April and contains all four chapters.

Ric DeLozier from Shelby NC, top Instrumental artist, will release his self-titled fifteen song instrumental album titled “DeLozier” on March 22^nd, 2015.   His riffs are tight and complex, and this album is aculmination of years of experience and skill.  “DeLozier” was recorded, mixed and mastered at “The Dungeon” of North Carolina.

US Epic Metallers YONDER REALM Sign With Maple Metal Records

Hailing from Long Island, New York, USA, epic folk metallers YONDER REALM have signed a worldwide deal with Maple Metal Records to release their first full-length album ‘The Old Ways’.  ‘The Old Ways’ was self-released by Yonder Realm in mid-2014, but has now seen an official release date of February 14^th, 2015 by the label.
As part of the deal, Maple Metal Records will re-release Yonder Realm’s EP from 2011 ‘Beyond a Long Lost World’ worldwide later this month.
‘The Old Ways’ was mixed by Marco Bobadilla (Grimus) of Crimson Recordings, New Jersey, and mastered by Alan Douches of West West Side Music, NY.
The album cover artwork is by Chris Maggio.
Yonder Realm was founded in the summer of 2009 by vocalist/guitarist Jesse McGunnigle, and he quickly recruited four members to round out the lineup. Yonder Realm have been a solid performer on the East Coast American metal circuit, playing with many local and international acts.  They have shared the stage with Korpiklaani, Alestorm, Arkona, Turisas, Tyr, Metsatoll, Arsis, Sonata Arctica, Swashbuckle, Blackguard, plus many more in the New York area.  The band also performed at the Semana Del Rock Festival in 2013, Equador, South America.

Interview with Peter Riot of McClinton

McClinton is a five piece Rock band from New Jersey.  The lineup consists of Michael McClinton on vocals, Peter Riot on bass, Gavin Lawrence on guitar, Marcel Buby on guitar, and Michael Lee Allen on drums.  
The band has recently released the album “Final Closure”.   Not only will I get the opportunity to find out more about McClinton and their newest release in this interview, but I will also get to see Peter Riot and McClinton in person this NAMM 2015!!!  He and the band will be traveling to the West Coast and can be seen in the DBZ Guitar Booth this January 2015.
Before we visit about McClinton can you tell us a bit about your history as a musician?  You have worked on multiple projects besides McClinton.  What were your favorite projects?
Yes, I like to keep busy. McClinton is my primary focus but I welcome opportunities that further my career and challenge me as a player. My favorite project was Sick an Tired.  I had complete control and wrote all the material.
What brought McClinton together? 
Michael McClinton brought us together. He is the driving force behind this project and won’t tolerate dead wood.  I am in agreement with him on this. I am sick of lazy musicals who want to just show up and play. It’s a business that requires plenty of behind the scenes effort. I just answered a Craigslist ad and came down for an audition.  Anecdotally the band’s first impression of me was that I was an asshole and wouldn’t make the cut. Now I have the most seniority of the current line-up.
The song, “Empty Silhouettes,” by McClinton has accumulated accolades, such as being nominated for “Rock Song of the Year” with the IMEA Awards, as well as being nominated For Akademia Music Awards for “Best Rock Song.”  Congratulations.  Can you tell us more about the song “Empty Silhouettes” and the album?
Empty Silhouettes is an extremely moving piece written by Michael McClinton.  It is a stand out in in style and audience response.  It definitely is the most talked about McClinton song. I suggested moving it later in the set because of its popularity.
 
What makes McClinton different?  What can fans expect to see at a live show?
The main difference with McClinton is the positive message in the song content.  You won’t find the typical ‘sex, drugs, r-n-r’ drivel. As a cancer survivor, Michael has found a philosophy to keep himself motivated in the face of adversity.  These are words that fans sing along with us at the shows. We are non-stop once we hit the stage. We love to perform and the looks on our faces convey that to the crowds. We all get along great and it shows when we play together.  Sometimes the guys just crack me up.
 
Bedsides these IMEA Awards and Akademia Music Awards what other highlights has McClinton encountered? 
It was a real thrill to play at the New York City Marathon.  We literally set up on a street corner at 54th and 5th with are power cords running down into a local Bodega basement. The spectators and participants were incredible.  We were all high fiveing and fist bumping as we took pics and videos.  It was the most inspiring and fun gig I’ve had. Next year we will return to play the big lawn in Central Park.
 
 You have shared the stage with some great names such as Eric Martin, Stryper, Dio Disciples, Dierks Bently, Firehouse, Mike Tramp, Winger, Ademam Ace Frenhly, Randy Jackson, Z02, John Corabi and others.  How does it feel to play with performers of this caliber?   Any backstage stories which are appropriate to tell?
It’s always an honor to play with big names and share their crowds. I am always happy to meet them and most of them are gracious and humble.  I use them as an example of how to conduct myself with grace and remember that the fans make it possible so always take time to say thanks.
 
McClinton has released the album “Final Closure”.  When did you release?  How are fans responding to the album?   Are you getting positive reviews from the industry regarding the album? 
Our newest release just came out in November.  It is our strongest selling effort so far. Final Closure entered the ITunes chart at #6 between Slipknot and Dokken!
 
You set the bar high with your previous album and awards.  Does “Final Closure” compare?
 
McClinton has gained endorsements with several companies.   The band will be attending NAMM 2015 with DBZ Guitars.    Can you tell fans about the guitar company?   Where can McClinton fans find you at NAMM 2015?
Dean Zalinsky is a world famous guitar maker. He left his former namesake company, Dean Guitars,  to found DBZ Guitars. They make some of the finest instruments in the industry.  I am proud to be with them and if you have played a DBZ you should try one today!

Power Theory Recording “Driven By Fear”

Philadelphia PA- Pure Steel Records German Artist Power Theory  from the United States has begun the final recording process for their new album (3) “Driven By Fear”. Completing drum tracks on January 10th, 2015 at TTR Studios in historic Germantown Section of Philadelphia, PA. Drums tracks are being handled by Nick Bunczk  (http://www.nickbunczk.com)  who has been the bands live drummer for the past year, and is well known as being one of the best percussionists in Philadelphia. His solid skills were showcased in these sessions as the tracks were laid down with open eyes and ears.   Next up are  guitar, bass and vocal tracks  which will be engineered and produced by Carlos Alvarez at Dirty Viking Audio Productions.

Spanish Melodic Rock Band XTASY has releases “REVOLUTION”

“Xtasy”, Female Fronted Spanish Rock band has recently released “Revolution”.  The album mixed and Mastered by Erik Martensson (W.E.T., Eclipse) at Blow Out Studios Stockholm  .  “Xtasy” was born in 2011 as a Studio Project between Jorge (guitar) and Silvia (vocals). Both together started to work in several songs which were recorded between dec 2011 and dec 2013 in R81 Studios in Noain-Pamplona.

 

Some friends participated in the recording sessions as guests: Jon Huarte (Dreamwalker) and Josu Alzu (Six Miles Wide) on drums, Manolo Arias (Atlas, Niágara), Robert Rodrigo (Airless), Willy Gascón (Steelhorse), David Morales (Zinc), Roberto Martínez (Blackbeltz, Taxikarlo) and Ángel García (Meridiam) as lead guitar.

In late December of 2013 Xtasy becomes a real band, leaving the studio project behind. Then came Ángel (guitar), David (bass), Tutumba (drums) and Jakin (keyboards) on board to complete the band.
During January and February of 2014 the songs of their forthcoming album are mixed and mastered in Stockholm by Erik Martensson (W.E.T, Eclipse) at “Blowout Studios”.
Their first CD entitled “Revolution”is released thru Melodic Rock Records.

This January 23  2015 I had the opportunity to visit with SINISTER GUITAR PICKS at NAMM 2015!  The visit with Joseph Fortmuller, Company CEO,  was days after the ”Guitar Picks with a Metal Edge”  based out of Dunedin, FL had sponsored the Metal Allegiance Show at the House of Blues in Anaheim CA.  To commemorate the Metal Allegiance Show, SINISTER GUITAR PICKS developed a 50 Limited Edition Guitar Picks made with real gold.  The picks were made with 24k gold and each of the picks were numbered and come with a certificate of authenticity
Although, Company CEO, artist and pick design developer had spent the previous days surrounded by top names in Metal Music at the annual jam kicking off NAMM, he was ready and eager to display his product at the Rock N Roll Industry Booth at the NAMM .
